When it rains here, it really rains. And because the city is built in a valley which has been abused for centuries by us humans, the drainage system is not coping with rain at all. This is the picture from the last rain – streets even in my posh neighbourhood – turn into rivers. I happened to drive with a friend that day and we were floating practically. Cars that were parked on the streets had water reaching the bottom of doors. Some streets were not accessible at all…and it happens here like once every week during the rainy season. The amazing part is that one gets used to it.
